If you would like to be added to a wait list for this tour, please contact Kim at kbihler@lakeviewcemetery.com John Grabowski, co-editor of The Encyclopedia of Cleveland History, will lead this extensive walking tour with a focus on graves and markers that have interesting, diverse, and sometimes tragic stories to tell. This is not the usual Lake View tour but rather an exclusive opportunity to see our cemetery through the eyes of a famed historian.
We will visit a marker that celebrates the use of mud flaps on trucks, another that tells the story of a young couple who perished together in one of Cleveland’s worst disasters, and a grave that honors one of the most beloved teachers at Murray Hill Elementary School. We will also encounter fascinating inscriptions that celebrate life and hope for the afterlife. Come prepared for a long, robust walk - one that will open unexpected insights into our community’s history and the diversity of Lake View Cemetery.
This tour will be less than 2 miles, on paved road that may be hilly or uneven at points and grassy areas and will last roughly 120 minutes.
